New Members’ Welcome Event
We welcomed the new members of the Students’ Section at a social event for newcomers. The participants were treated to a packed programme in the centre of Brno, including a musical performance.
On Wednesday, 30 September 2026, members of the association travelled to Prague, where they visited two prominent institutions as part of an educational trip.
In the morning, they were welcomed by the Institute of International Relations. Mr Matúš Halás, Head of the Centre for European Security, prepared a lecture on the position of Central Europe in the current security environment. Together with Mr Halás, the members discussed NATO, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as well as the possibility of a potential conflict between Russia and NATO.
In the afternoon, they were welcomed at the Embassy of Ireland by H.E. Alan Gibbons, Ambassador of Ireland to the Czech Republic. The discussion focused on Ireland’s ongoing Presidency of the Council of the EU and its main priorities. The Ambassador also highlighted the importance of the European Union and the role it plays for its Member States. The initiative connecting partner regions was also discussed, under which County Kerry is paired with the Czech Republic during the Irish Presidency.
We would like to thank all the participants of the trip, as well as everyone who welcomed us at both institutions!
